Habitat for Humanity is a global non-profit housing organization working in local communities in approximately 70 countries. It offers programs and initiatives to help support home building costs that change the lives of families in need.
In 2021, Irving Consumer Products, in partnership with other J.D. Irving, Limited companies, became a leading sponsor for a house build with Habitat for Humanity Moncton. In addition to supporting a worthy cause, the location of the build is close to our company’s Head Office in Dieppe, which reinforces our mandate to support the communities where we live and work.
As part of the sponsorship, Irving Consumer Products employees contributed volunteer hours to building a home for the El Tereks, a family of 10 from Syria. This experience provided employees with on-site health and safety training to use Habitat’s tools and personal protective equipment, a chance to meet some of the family members that will live in the home, and the opportunity to give back to their community. The employee volunteers were moved by the experience of impacting this family’s future through their contribution.
