Irving Consumer Products employees from our Irving Tissue plant in Toronto, recently presented $2,700 to two local foodbanks that serve the area – Daily Bread Food Bank and the Weston Area Emergency Support (WAES).
As one of Canada’s largest food banks, Daily Bread supplies food to nearly 200 food programs across Toronto with a fleet of five trucks. Daily Bread also provides homemade meals to agencies that operate shelters or drop-in programs in Toronto, offering over 5,000 meal servings per week.
WAES provides food support and security to the community’s vulnerable population. In 2021, WAES had over 1,700 visits per month with children under 18 representing 32 per cent, and seniors representing 16 per cent.
